Ten terms that decide the argument
SuiteQL
NetSuite's SQL-like query language exposed via REST web services. Lets external tools read NetSuite data without ODBC drivers or SuiteAnalytics Connect license.
SuiteAnalytics Connect
Oracle's $499/month ODBC and JDBC service for NetSuite. Required by Fivetran, CData, and many older BI connectors. Modern tools that use SuiteQL skip it entirely.
OneWorld
NetSuite's multi-subsidiary edition with consolidated reporting, currency translation, and elimination entries. Critical context for any company running multiple legal entities.
ODBC
Open Database Connectivity, a 1990s-era driver standard for connecting tools to databases. Still required for SuiteAnalytics Connect-based NetSuite access; replaced by REST APIs in modern setups.
MAR Pricing
Monthly Active Rows pricing model used by Fivetran. Charges scale with data volume, often unpredictably. The opposite of flat-rate pricing.
Saved Search
NetSuite's built-in saved-query feature. UI-driven, scheduled email export, but limited JOIN support. SuiteQL is the modern alternative for complex analytics.
REST Web Services
NetSuite's modern HTTPS API. CRUD on every record type + SuiteQL queries. OAuth 2.0 token-based auth. Free with every license. Replacement for SOAP + ODBC.
FP&A
Financial Planning & Analysis. The corporate finance function for budgeting, forecasting, scenario planning, and variance analysis. Distinct from accounting and treasury.
ELT
Extract, Load, Transform. The modern cloud-warehouse pattern. Load raw data first, transform in destination. Replaces traditional ETL for cloud analytics.
Incremental Sync
Delta sync. Only fetch records changed since the last sync. Faster, cheaper, more reliable than full refresh. Critical for NetSuite-to-warehouse pipelines at scale.
